Fast CASology and MIM challenges

Two of my favorite challenges, Make It Monday from Papertrey Ink and CASology are coming together for this card I whipped up really fast today.  We buy our milk fresh from the dairy and today I will give this card to our favorite farmer's son, Payton, who has recently passed his behind the wheel test and is on the road!

Following Laurie Willison's video HERE I masked off my background and then split it in half.  I inked up the blue skies and then reversed my mask to create some green.  It is hard to see but I moved a diagonal mask on the grass a few times to give some dimension.  After I was done I thought about how inappropriate it is to have a car on the grass oopie! Oh well, you KNOW how student drivers can be heeheehee.  Next I actually cut out the car from the background so that I could fussy cut out the window and lay it over my "Tye Dye" bug's windshield giving the illusion that you are seeing through the windshield.  I layered a piece of black cs behind my panel and popped it up on my card base.  I also popped up the car over the negative space so you could see the black underneath a little : )

I wanted to make this a fun yet not too girly card for Payton so I let it stay sort of plain.  I did, however have a brain storm after the entire card was done and added glossy accents on the windshield!

ummm... note to self:

don't stir the glossy accents after it is on the card.

The texture is terrible and bumpy like he needs a new windshield already! LOL  Oh well! he'll love it .... mostly because we are including some gas money! giggles.

That is it for me today.  Please check out the challenge at CASology and Make It Monday there is a whole lot of fun! happening in Blogland this week!

Thank you for stopping by! Have a great day!!

After having 'just' discovered you (seriously, where have I BEEN!), I'm awed over and over at the depth and breadth of your creativity! Your 'grass and sky' scene here is amazing, and the VW bug...fantastic! A brilliant, innovative, ingenious card that Payton will absolutely love, as do I! Incredible...just incredible!

Loved reading about the making of this card :) it is awesome and I am loving the bottom bit of your masked background. Papertrey is one of my very favourite stamp companies and I so need to play more with there challenge. Lucky Son getting a little gas monies..........My son is on his P plates and I have a card tucked away that I made six months ago to give him once he gets his full license.

Sweet as can be Patti, I almost used that same stamp for my card this week. Glossy Accents never like to be disturbed, but your windshield looks just fine! Thank you for sharing with us at CASology this week!

Oh Patti, you've outdone yourself with this fun card! You thought of every little detail that makes it perfect! Maybe you can say the windshield is pitted because he's been driving on the grass too much. ;0) What a great card! Payton will be thrilled, I'm sure!!

What a neat card you created. I have a grandson this would have worked well for as he just recently got his learner's permit. Exciting times for kids when they get to this age but sometimes a frustrating time for parents. LOL

What a wonderful card for a new driver. That car makes me smile every time I see it, and I KNOW I have this set, having recently used it for new driver cards for both of my daughters. Love your sponged and masked background--I'd better watch that video for instructions. Thanks so much for playing along at CASology this week.

Oooh this is gorgeous Patti, love those fab zingy colours! Bet he'll be delighted with the gas money ... if the car insurance over there for young drivers is anything like here, I don't know how they afford it!

What a fun card for a new driver! Your ink blending is especially well done and the windshield ideas (even touching wet Glossy Accents) is great! I had a New Beetle for 8 years due to my love of a childhood Bug! I need that PTI set!!

Patti, this is a lovely card, and Payton will undoubtedly appreciate it, with our without the gas money-LOL! HOw privileged to be able to buy your milk direct from a dairy! I am truly jealous! ;-) Anyway, it's a fabulous layout - great colour choice and dimension too. SO glad you could join us at CASology this week!

Super cute card, Patti! Had to laugh at your tip not to stir the Glossy Accents :) Too Late, my friend, I already messed up 'touching up' the water on my last card :-{
