Serendipity Stamps - Texture

It's November 1st already? what happened to October?? - Actually I don't care what date it is giggles!! When you are reading this I am on a cruise ship getting FAT!

I won't feel too bad for you though because you get to get inky today and I don't! : )  Today starts the one month challenge at Serendipity Stamps! and this one is a good one!! :  )

What a better way to add texture than to add it to a Gingerbread House! : ) There is all sorts of texture on my card from the snowy sky I created with an Embossing Folder to the Deco-Art Snow-Tex I used on the roof : )

I am such a kid at heart.  I am a sucker for things like paper dolls and things you can put together.  I love fussy cutting and the little details on just about any project.  When I saw this adorable Cottage Die I knew I had to have it! : )  I especially love all the little elements included in this die so that you can add as much or as little as you like making it a quiet little Cottage or even a Gingerbread House! : )

You won't want to miss out on this month's 50% off Stamp of the Month because you are going to blink and November is going to be over too : ) This guy is so happy looking! I would love him greeting me in my mail box : )

We hope you will join us by posting your card in the gallery.  And please be sure to pay a visit to our talented Design Team for added inspiration!

Thanks a bunch for stopping by! Have a wonderful day.

Fun Friday - Fun and Funky!

Today is my last feature on the Penny Black blog with my Fun Friday posts! Today we are bringing you some fun and funky projects we hope you'll really enjoy!

Before I get to the projects I would like to encourage you to read the entire post so that you won't miss out on the chance to win the BLOG CANDY I am giving away.

I have created some ornaments using Butterfly dies by simply die cutting two each of each butterfly and gluing them together with some string sandwiched in between just at the body.  As you can see I have dolled them up a bit.  I will explain more and give a link to the product I used in the pictures below. ALL the ornaments were cut from water color paper.

For this one I began by cutting the large butterfly in #51-132 Flights of Fancy. I Stamped #40-440 Elegance in motion image on both butterflies and embossed them with silver Embossing Powder. Next I glued the two butterflies together sandwiching some white string in between. finally I embellished it with three teal rhinestones : ) To give you some perspective this butterfly is about 2.5" high and 3" wide.

I created a matching gift tag using the same #51-132 Flights of Fancy Creative Die. For this little tag I used one of the smaller, very detailed, butterflies.  I stamped the To: and From: from #30-307 Holiday Snippets.

This little sweetie is about 1.75" high and 2" wide.  In the same manner I cut two butterflies from 51-110 Flicker & Flutter - stamped them with a snowflake from #30-307 Holiday Snippets.  The word Joy is also from Holiday Snippets.  I colored the snowflake with a hint of Red and Aqua. And glued them together - this one with a Copper Thread from my stash.

This one might be my favorite.  I water colored a wash of Turquoise using Zig Clean Color Ink.  Then I stamped a sentiment from #30-307 Holiday Snippets  a couple of times and finally embellished his head with a Turquoise Nail Head.  I made a couple of little gift tags to compliment this ornament.

This lovely detailed butterfly #51-137 Swirling Wings measures about 2.5 high and 3.5 wide.  Again, I laid a Turquoise wash on the butterfly on the top only of each die cut.  I assembled it the same and added a red rhinestone.  As you can see these are very simple and very elegant! : )

Next up in the Fun and funky category : ) is a fun little shaker card.  I simply cut three circle shapes for the Shaker feature - assembled it and finally added the #51-257 Jingle All The Way Creative die and I was done : ) Clean and simple - Super Fun! and a tiny bit funky : )

Last but by no means least this card.  I started with an A2 card cut from white cs.  Next I cut a tag from #51-007 Tagged.  I stamped an image from #30-381 Festive Cheer in black ink an then laid a Turquoise wash (noticing a pattern here?) just behind the word "Cheer" to make it pop! I added some interest to the tag with supplies from my stash.  Before popping up my tag and attaching it to the card I ink splattered! : ) Finally I placed my pretty little sequins and this FuN card was finished.

And my Fun Friday with Patti Kehl feature is finished as well.  Hopefully you have read my original post HERE.  In it I explain that I am personally giving away $25.00 in FREE Penny Black product as a way of thanking my friends, family and followers for your support.

October Challenge with Birgit and Marcia

I have the honor of joining with two sweethearts in Blogland, Marcia Hill of Marcia's Stamp Pad blog and Birgit of Crafting While I Wait blog, to challenge ourselves and each other each month.  The challenge this month is a fall theme.  Fall happens to be my favorite season.  I love Thanksgiving most of all because it isn't commercialized - too much - and it brings out the thankfulness in us all.

Sadly because of my many other obligations and getting ready for our trip I was only able to make four cards this time.  Still, I hope you'll enjoy them.  : )

I sat down to create my cards for this challenge and I had zero Mojo! I couldn't turn off my brain from the many tasks that are pulling at me to complete before we leave so I went searching for inspiration. This is a CASED card from Jen Wills. I used Doodlie Do - as well as a Swoosh Die both from Papertrey Ink.

Jen's card got my Mojo moving and I had a good time creating this card.  Again using a set in Betsy's Doodle Series. I'm blushing but I cannot for the life of me find the set I used for the sentiment! I have searched my table of contents for my stamps and it isn't jumping out at me.  If anyone recognizes it please let me know and I'll edit my post : ) Thank you!

This card was so fast and easy - just what I needed in my busy week. : )

I used Sent-i-mentals set by Papertrey Ink along with Stitched Mats Rectangle from Lil' Inkers. Easy Peasy!

And finally another super fast and easy card using a retired set from Close To My Heart called Something Splendid and a sentiment from Mums The Word by Papertrey Ink - those Lil Inkers Stitched rectangles and some Topaz rhinestones! and whoosh!! on to the bookkeeping yahoo!

Please don't miss the opportunity to see some FALL COLORS! at Marcia and Birgit's blogs.  Thank you so much for stopping by! have a fantastic day!!

p.s. I know it is a lot to ask because I'm not doing much commenting right now but if you have the time please stop by tomorrow when I will be sharing a Clean and Simple card I created for the Penny black Simplicity blog!!

Penny Black feature - Fun Fridays with Patti Kehl

Today I am being featured on the Penny Black Blog.  As you read this post you will find that you can win $25.00 in Penny Black product that I am personally giving away - so please be sure to read the entire post to find out how!!.  Today I get to share three "Golden Touches" cards I created for Penny Black's marketing department.

I started with and A2 card base and then cut a top layer approximately  5 x 4".  I inked my sentiment from 30-383 "Holy Night" in a dark red ink directly to the top panel. Before adding my 51-273 Tall Trees die cut I painted just the tips of the trees with Liquid Leaf paint.  Once it was dry I glued one tree directly to the top panel and popped up the remaining two trees for added dimension.  Finally I popped up the top layer with foam tape and attached it to my card base.  It took longer to explain this process than to actually create this card!  That is one of the things I truly love about Clean and simple cards! they are just so SIMPLE! and... clean : )

I have always love the the look of cream and gold together for my holiday decorating. And for a holiday greeting card this combo is beautiful and elegant as well : )  I started with a Cream square card base and then cut a square top panel from the same Cream card stock.  I cut my 51-259 "Oh Holy Night" sentiment and 51-254 "Manger" from the same Cream cs as well. Before gluing these elements directly to the top panel I painted Gold Liquid Leaf to the rim of the Manger die cut. Finally I carefully "dotted" the top panel with some Liquid Leaf paint using the end of a small paint brush.

This is an A2 card base with a top panel cut slightly smaller.  I ran the top portion only of the top panel through my Big Shot using the 51-250 "No Two are Alike" Snowflake cover plate - however I didn't cut the die this time I embossed with it. I love doing this technique because it really expands the uses of your dies. Next I cut 51-021 "Love & Joy" and 51-253 "Happy Holly Days" border.  I embossed the garland border using Versamark and Gold embossing Powder.  I cut this border from water color paper so that I could add a light wash of green on the holly using Zig  Clean color real Brush Pens.  I stamped the "To the World" sentiment from 30-307 Holiday Snippets and added some red rhinestones for the berries.

Thank you for hanging in there with me for this long post. Now let's talk BLOG CANDY!! : )

Next week, on Friday October 28th I will be flying to Miami!! woo hoo - but not before posting my final Fun Fridays with Patti Kehl in this series : ) It has really been a pleasure bringing these cards to you!!

Next week I will post a link to each feature post - both my my blog and on Penny Black so that you can be sure you have not missed any opportunity to win my blog candy.

I am personally giving away a $25.00 in free product from Penny Black - Your choice! !! See all the Details HERE

Serendipity Stamps October Blog Hop!

The Serendipity Stamps Blog Hop theme this month is Celebrate!! I love to celebrate Thanksgiving more than any of the other holidays so I chose this incredibly pretty wreath to feature my favorite holiday : )

I started with a water color paper base and brushed just the faintest color blue on the main card base using my Ziggys.  Next I cut a top panel 4.25 x 4" and stamped "Winter Wear Background" in a light green ink.  I stamped "Autumn Wreath" and embossed it with gold EP - then colored it with my Zigs.  Using the same blue Ziggy wash that I did on my card base I carefully inked around the wreath. I then added a stripe of Gold Washi tape to the right side of the card.  For my sentiment I wanted two different fonts so I used a portion of "Happy Birthday Verticle" and "Thanksgiving 1$ Sale" for the rest of the sentiment.  I mounted the sentiment on a little banner and added two gold nail heads. I popped the top panel up with foam tape : )

Our regular monthly challenge is still going on and there is plenty of time for you to join the fun where the theme is Anything Goes!! Just be sure that you include at least one Serendipity Stamps image (stamp or die) on your design! Fun Friday with Patti Kehl...on Monday!?

Hello friends : ) We are back from our loooooong business trip/vacation! and I realize I forgot to schedule my "Fun Friday with Patti Kehl" post! I am so very sorry!! but there is still plenty of time to comment and WIN the $25.00 in your choice of FREE Penny Black product I am offering just for commenting on both my featured post on the Penny Black blog and here on my blog.  See THIS POST for all the details! : ) And thank you for your patience with me : )

40-490 Pine Burst is the image I used for this card.  I started with a Kraft card base that I scored around all sides.  I stamped the Pine Burst directly to my Kraft cs.  Next I took a piece of cut white cs and stamped Pine Burst.  Before attaching it to my card base I cut out the square in the center.  I glued the white cs to the Kraft and  "popped up" the center section with foam tape.   I carefully colored the berries to match my 51-251 Rejoice die.  : )

51-265 Woodland Scene is the die cut for this easy card.  30-384 Rejoice with Joy is the sentiment and Kraft on white makes it so clean and warm doesn't it?  I love the Woodland scene die because it is a two part die.  I chose to cut one layer in white and one in Kraft and without any effort on my part this is a super easy card : )

Click HERE to find the PB post from October 14th where two of my "Getting Krafty"cards were featured. Be sure to leave a comment on that post as well as this post to increase your chances of winning : )

We are so tired! from our WONDERFUL trip we are finding it hard to turn our efforts to the cruise! so much to do before we go but luckily we have about 2 weeks before we fly to Miani : ).  I have several cards to share this week including another "Fun Friday with Patti Kehl" again this coming Friday, 10/21 where Penny Black will be featuring three cards with Golden Touches!! : )
